Protester's tweets sealed pending appeal

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Tweets by an Occupy Wall Street protester submitted to a New York judge Friday will remain sealed while Twitter appeals the judge's order, lawyers say.

The office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance requested the tweets as evidence, the New York Post reported. Prosecutors say Malcolm Harris, who posted the tweets, and hundreds of other people knowingly disregarded police orders in a march onto the Brooklyn Bridge.

The tweets are no longer on public display.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Matthew Sciarrino ordered Twitter to hand over Harris's tweets, threatening the company with a contempt of court finding. The tweet transcript was submitted in a sealed envelope and cannot be given to Vance's office until the appeal is resolved.
