LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- At least eight people were injured in Los Angeles early Friday when a driver allegedly ran a red light and struck a bus while texting, authorities said.

The bus then jumped a curb, struck a tree and toppled a light post, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The car's driver and at least seven passengers on the bus were hospitalized, police and transit spokesmen said. No arrests or injuries were reported.
