Robbers tossed cash from SUV

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Police said suspected bank robbers tossed cash from a getaway car before being arrested in Los Angeles at the end of an hourlong pursuit Wednesday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a bank robbery in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles, chased a sport utility vehicle along freeways and, eventually, through city streets in Los Angeles -- where the chase ended because the SUV was caught in a traffic jam, KCAL-TV, Los Angeles, reported.

Police said suspects dumped cash from the SUV during the pursuit.

Deputies arrested two suspects in the SUV but said one or two other suspects may have gotten out of the vehicle not far from the scene of the 10:15 a.m. PDT bank robbery.

The chase was the third this week involving police in Los Angeles.

Officers shot and wounded a homicide and robbery suspect late Tuesday at the end of a chase. On Monday, officers chased a driver who failed to obey a traffic signal, but called off the search after losing the trail.
