Police officer dies while cleaning weapon

FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A Dallas police officer was killed while cleaning his weapon at home, a police statement said.

Officer Christopher Pasley died Monday afternoon "as a result of an apparent accidental discharge while cleaning his weapon," a statement from Dallas police Chief David Brown said.

Pasley was a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, and joined the Dallas police force in 2007, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.
