Wrong number for drug deal ends in arrests

LEWISTON, Idaho, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- An Idaho man who was trying to contact a drug dealer accidentally sent a text message to a narcotics detective about a drug deal, officials said.

The detective got a text message from an unknown number around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday about a drug deal, KXLY-TV, Spokane, Wash., reported.

The detective stayed anonymous and set up a time and place to meet to exchange $150 for meth. The unknown texter allegedly wanted redistribute those drugs to other buyers.

When the man allegedly texting the detective, later identified as Aaron D. Templeton, 37, arrived at the meeting place, he was met by uniformed patrol officers.

He then texted "Well, that's weird, a cop just pulled up on me so what's up with that?" to the detective.

Police officers said they were able to determine the cellphone used to contact the narcotics detective was the same one in Templeton's possession. Officers also found drug paraphernalia inside Templeton's vehicle.

Templeton was arrested on a felony charge of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine and a woman who was in his car during the incident, identified as Hannah B. Keen, 24, was arrested for a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were booked into Nez Perce County Jail.
