MIAMI, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Leslie churned northward across the Atlantic Ocean Sunday night after delivering a glancing blow to Bermuda, U.S. forecasters said.

At 8 p.m. EDT, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Leslie was about 190 miles east-northeast of Bermuda, sporting winds of 60 mph and moving briskly to the north at 14 mph. Tropical storm-force winds were reaching out up to 195 miles from Leslie's center with gusts as high as 47 mph reported on Bermuda, the hurricane center said.

A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Bermuda, where another inch or two of rain was expected.

Swells could affect central Florida to the Canadian Maritimes, the center said.

Leslie was to turn to the north-northeast Sunday night with gradually weakening winds and "a significant increase in forward speed" expected in the next day or so, the forecasters said, approaching Newfoundland by Tuesday.
