DETROIT, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- A jury expert with experience in high-profile cases has been hired by prosecutors for the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office said Richard Gabriel's role will be to advise prosecutors on getting an impartial jury, The Detroit News reported.
Jury selection began Thursday in the trial of Kilpatrick, his father Bernard and several others. Kilpatrick allegedly took kickbacks from city contractors.
Gabriel sat with prosecutors in the courtroom.
The president of Decision Analysis, a Los Angeles consulting firm, Gabriel has been involved in a number of high-profile cases. In addition to Casey Anthony's trial in Orlando, Fla., which ended in her acquittal on charges she killed her daughter, they include the wrongful death lawsuit filed against O.J. Simpson.
