CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker gave another hint his future may include running for governor in 2013, in a comment at a Charlotte, N.C., political caucus.

Speaking to a caucus of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered advocates at the Democratic National Convention, Thursday, Booker expressed confidence a marriage-equality bill would soon pass New Jersey's state legislature, and suggested he might be the one signing the bill into law.

"If God is willing I will be there on the day that bill is signed. I might even have a very good seat for it," he said.

Talk has been circulating that Booker, a rising star in the Democratic Party, may run against incumbent Gov. Chris Christie, a prominent speaker at the Republican National Convention, NBC News reported Friday.
