STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Jerry Sandusky, convicted on 45 counts of child sex abuse, is working on an appeal even as he maintains his innocence, his attorney says.

His sentencing is expected soon. Convicted on June 22, Sandusky was told he would be sentenced within 90 days, the Centre Daily Times of State College, Pa. reported Thursday.

Sandusky remains jailed in isolation.

The date of Sandusky's hearing has not been set, said his defense attorney, Joe Amendola.

Amendola hopes to get a new trial for his client, partly on the defense's claim that they were given insufficient time to prepare for the initial trial given the number of victims and the amount of documents.

Amendola appealed, unsuccessfully, to the state's high court for more time.

The charges against Sandusky, a former assistant football coach at Penn State, include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, unlawful contact with minors and corruption of minors.

Amendola said Sandusky's family is still supportive of him. His wife, Dottie, is "still 100 percent supportive of him," the lawyer said.
