Kidnapping suspect had key to teen's home

COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- A South Carolina man suspected of kidnapping missing teenager Gabrielle Swainson had a key to her family's home, investigators said.

Police found the key while searching the Elgin home of Freddie Grant, The State, Columbia, S.C., reported.

"This is the key that opens Gabbiee's house," Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Wednesday.

Gabrielle disappeared early Aug. 18 while her mother was at work.

Investigators said they found blood in Gabrielle's bed, as wells duct tape with her blood and hair on it in Grant's home.

Lott said he still has hope that Gabrielle will be found alive.

"We know the person responsible," Lott said. "We know who took her. He's not going anywhere. The priority is finding Gabbiee."

Grant is currently being held on a federal weapons charge after investigators found ammunition in his home, and an arrest warrant for the kidnapping of Gabrielle has been issued by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
