Bank employees stop robber

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- A 27-year-old man was arrested after allegedly trying to rob a Citizens Bank branch in Pittsburgh Thursday morning, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, attempted to rob the bank in the Lawrenceville neighborhood minutes after it opened at 9 a.m., the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Police said the man approached a teller holding a plastic bag and demanded cash. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the thief ran off.

Employees at the bank made sure that he didn't get far, however, trapping him between two sets of glass doors, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Police showed up and arrested the man at the scene.
