COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- South Carolina authorities said they need help from the public in finding missing teenager Gabrielle Swainson, who disappeared Aug. 18 from her home.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department wants anyone with information about the man accused of kidnapping Gabrielle to contact them, The State, Columbia, S.C. reported Wednesday.

Freddie Grant, 52, who was involved with Gabrielle's mother, has been charged with the teen's kidnapping but so far hasn't cooperated with authorities trying to find the Richland teen.

Tuesday night more than 300 people held a prayer vigil for the missing Ridge View High School student.

Gabrielle's mother Elvia Swainson lit the first candle but did not speak to the crowd.

Sheriff Leon Lott said he would provide an update on the case during a press conference on Wednesday.
