Bullets fired at U.S. Border Patrol agents

HIDALGO, Texas, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Gunmen on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande fired on U.S. Border Patrol agents just east of Hidalgo, Texas, but there were no injuries, officials said.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, KGBT-TV, Harlingen, Texas, reported.

Acting Assistant Border Patrol Chief Henry Mendiola said agents were in boats and on shore when eight to 12 shots were fired at them.
