DETROIT, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Vice-President Joe Biden addressed a large crowd at the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO Labor Day Rally with a pro-worker and pro-productivity speech.
The outdoor speech by a Democratic nominee is a Labor Day tradition in Detroit, and after Biden asked for a moment of silence for 6,468 "fallen angels" killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, he criticized the attitudes of Republican nominees Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan toward working people.
"Folks, you're the reason that the automobile industry is back. Your sacrifices. You sacrificed to keep your companies open. Because of you and your productivity, the combined auto companies have committed to invest another 23 billion dollars in expansion in America. Not the Bain way, not in Mexico, not in China, not in Vietnam but in Detroit, Cleveland, right here in America. You are the most productive workers in the world," adding "Romney and Ryan don't seem to think so much of you guys."
Biden later returned to Washington.
