Three hurt at Oregon monster-truck race

HARRISBURG, Ore., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Three people were injured in Oregon Saturday when a monster truck went out of control and over a barricade during a race, sheriff's deputies said.

The driver of the vehicle told Linn County deputies his 1970 Ford fishtailed when one of its oversized wheels spun in some slippery mud and wound up with the front tires going over a barricade and landing on thee spectators seated in folding chairs, KVAL-TV, Eugene, Ore., said.

The three fans were taken from the Harrisburg MotorSports Complex to a hospital in nearby Eugene with non-life threatening injuries.

"I heard his axle snap as soon as he hit the mud," spectator Dustin Earls told CNN. "As soon as he hit that line, he lost control of his steering and his brakes."
