WASHINGTON, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Attorney General Eric Holder praised his counterpart in Serbia for the Balkan nation's cooperation in prosecuting transnational crimes.
The top Justice Department official said the interaction had been characterized by "a spirit of mutual trust and support," the Tanjug news agency reported.
Holder met Tuesday with Serbian Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac in Washington to express his support for Serbia's work on organized crime, corruption and war crimes.
The meeting touched on the challenges between the two nations, said Tomo Zoric, a spokesperson for the Republic Public Prosecutor's Office.
Zoric said special emphasis was put on plans to increase the efficiency of criminal prosecutions. The prosecutor's offices for organized crimes and war crimes have instituted those procedures, Zoric said, while offices of the general jurisdiction prosecutor will begin using them in January.
