OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Problems with smoke and cabin pressure forced two Southwest Airlines jets to make emergency landings at the airport in Oakland, Calif., the airline said.
A Southwest spokeswoman told the Oakland Tribune one of the planes had just taken off from Oakland bound for Reno, Nev., when a flight attendant smelled smoke in the cabin.
The Boeing 737 with 119 passengers and crew members aboard landed safety Tuesday morning with fire and rescue crews standing by.
Earlier, a Southwest flight from San Francisco to Denver made an emergency landing in Oakland because of a problem with cabin pressure, the spokeswoman said.
Officials decided it was easier to land the plane at Oakland rather than have it return to San Francisco.
Neither incident had an impact on regular operations at Oakland International, an airport representative said.
