TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made one candidate out of two Wednesday, saying "Mitt Ryan" was the man to lead the United States.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we're here for the simple reason that our nation is in desperate need of leadership," McConnell said in his opening comments before the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

"We believe Mitt Ryan -- we believe that Mitt Romney is the man for this moment," the senator from Kentucky said.
