NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Two teens Tuesday faced charges in the death of a 5-year-old girl whose body was found in a trash bag, police in Niagara Falls, N.Y, said.
Isabella Sarah Tennant was reported missing by her great-grandmother just hours before authorities located her body in a garbage can in an alley near her home, the Niagara Gazette reported Tuesday.
Investigators said they charged John Freeman, 16, of Niagara Falls with second-degree murder. Tampering with evidence charges were filed against Tyler Best, 28, of Buffalo.
The great-grandmother told police she went to bed Sunday night and left Isabella in the care of Freeman.
When she woke up the next morning, the 5-year-old was gone.
Niagara Falls Chief of Detectives Capt. William M. Thomson told The Buffalo News the child was found fully clothed and there were no signs of trauma on her body.
"It's very disturbing," he said. "We don't have any motive for this."
