WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- An evangelical Christian college in Illinois has lost a challenge to the Obama healthcare plan's requirement to provide contraception coverage.

U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle, sitting in Washington, dismissed Wheaton University's lawsuit on technical grounds, the Chicago Tribune reported. She ruled Monday the college's action was premature because Wheaton will not be required to add contraception to its insurance package until next year.

The Obama administration has also said some changes will be made in the law to deal with religious objections.

"Wheaton only tilts at windmills when it protests that it will not be satisfied with whatever amendments defendants ultimately make," Huvelle said in her opinion.

Most challenges to the law have been made by Catholic universities. Wheaton and some other Protestant institutions argue that some types of contraception, especially the "morning-after pill," actually trigger abortions.
