BELLEFONTE, Pa., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- The charity founded by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky asked a judge Monday to delay a transfer of its assets, court records said.
Sandusky was convicted this year of 45 counts of child sex abuse, and prosecutors said he met the victims through The Second Mile charity.
The Second Mile had petitioned the Centre County Orphan's Court in May to transfer millions of dollars in assets to Arrow Child and Family Ministries of Houston. If the stay request is granted, it would allow any pending or future claims by Sandusky's victims to be resolved before any assets are transferred, the State College Centre Daily Times said.
"Both The Second Mile and Arrow feel that staying the petition at this time will better serve all involved as it limits further stress on the victims and avoids unnecessary litigation," The Second Mile interim Chief Executive Officer Dave Woodle said in a statement.
