NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Two people were killed, including the gunman, and several others injured in a rush-hour shooting Friday outside of the Empire State Building, authorities said.

The New York Post reported the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two co-workers. WCBS, New York, said the gunman had been fired Thursday.

Details were still sketchy. WCBS reported two people died in the shooting, including the gunman, and 10 were injured. Other reports put the number of those shot at four.

Police received an emergency call about a shooting at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street just shortly after 9 a.m., WNBC, New York, reported.

WABC, New York, said police took one person into custody, and that person may have also been shot.

WYNY, New York, said the injured were taken to Bellevue Hospital. The report also quoted a witness as saying the gunman fired "indiscriminately."
