WESTFIELD, Mass., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A couple drowned attempting to save their dog, which had fallen from their boat into the water at a Massachusetts park, police said.
Daniel Cyr, 63, and his wife Patricia, 61, of Westfield, Mass., were in a pontoon boat at Hampton Ponds State Park in Westfield Monday evening when they were seen in the water by a passerby on a personal watercraft retrieving their pet terrier, the Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported Wednesday.
Both drowned, and neither was wearing a life jacket, police said, adding the dog survived.
