Kid left at Detroit bus stop back with mom

DETROIT, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A 21-month-old girl left Monday at a Detroit bus stop was reunited with her family after she was reported missing by news outlets, police said.

The girl's father was caring for her, police said, and a man was reported walking away from her at a city bus stop.

Police will investigate whether the man was her father and why she was left at the bus stop, said Sgt. Richard Knox of the Detroit Police Child Abuse Unit.

Her mother did not know the child was missing until a family member phoned her after seeing the girl's photograph on the news, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday, adding the child recognized her mother and aunt when they arrived at the police station.
