TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Police in Tampa, Fla, said they are conducting a sweep of strip clubs to round up prostitutes in advance of the Republican National Convention next week.
Sixteen women were arrested Thursday and Friday as part of "Operation Keep It Clean," the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported. The Tampa Police Department said the women were charged with offering to commit prostitution.
Undercover officers have visited at least a dozen adult entertainment venues seeking out prostitution and human sex trafficking after getting reports prostitutes are flooding the city, hoping to cash in on the expected 50,000 visitors for the convention, the Post reported.
