PAOLA, Kan., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A Union Pacific train derailed early Wednesday in Miami County, Kan., plunging three cars into the Marais Des Cygnes River, officials said.
The 106-car train loaded with wheat derailed east of Osawatomie at about 1:45 a.m., the Miami County Sheriff's Office told The Kansas City Star. No injuries were reported.
Miami County Emergency Management officials were working with the sheriff's department to remove the 26 cars that derailed, the newspaper said.
Union Pacific is detouring traffic from the affected railway, which sees an average of 19 trains per day. Railway officials had not determined the cause of the accident.
