"Thank you for welcoming me to Chicago," Jenn Gibbons, 27, told supporters at the Chicago Yacht Club, where she ended the trip undertaken June 15 to raise money for the Recovery on Water charity and to raise awareness of the role exercise plays in fighting breast cancer, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.
Her voyage included an assault in the cabin of her 700-pound rowboat while it was docked along the lake in Schoolcraft County, Mich., in early July. Details of the attack were withheld because an investigation is ongoing, the newspaper said, but Gibbons said her primary concern was finishing what she had begun.
"I've trained enough, physically, mentally, spiritually," she said two days after the assault. "This just requires pushing through an obstacle that's bigger than the rest."
