ALLENTOWN, Pa., Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania woman was charged in the stabbing death of her fiance hours before they were to be married, officials said.
Na Cola Darcel Franklin, 31, of Whitehall Township, charged with homicide, said she didn't mean to kill Billy Rafael Brewster, 36, when they got into a fight early Saturday, The Allentown (Pa.) Morning Call reported.
"I ... did ... not ... kill ... him ... on ... purpose," she said to District Judge Donna Butler between sobs.
Monique Kali and her husband, cousin of the groom-to-be, were staying at the apartment of Franklin and Brewster when the fight broke out.
Kali said her husband, Nakia Kali, went to the living room to investigate and when she heard someone yell the word "knife" she joined him and they found Brewster bleeding from his side and Franklin swinging a knife.
Brewster had been stabbed twice in the torso, his heart pierced, and was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin said in a news release.
Brewster and Franklin were set to be married at 10 a.m. Saturday, the newspaper reported.
