Romney ad emphasizes Israel relationship

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign released an ad Sunday emphasizing what it calls his "cherished relationship" with Israel.

The television advertisement, called "Cherished Relationship," points out President Barack Obama "has never visited Israel and refuses to acknowledge Jerusalem as its capital."

"Mitt Romney recognizes the cherished relationship the United States has with Israel," a release from Romney's press office said. "Our country needs a leader that stands with our allies."

In the 30-second advertisement, Romney is shown making comments during a July trip to Jerusalem.

"We speak the same language of freedom and justice," he said in the clip. "It is a deeply moving experience to be in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel."

Obama has pledged to visit Israel if he is re-elected. Israeli leaders have made frequent trips to Washington while Obama has been in office.
