LOS ANGELES, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Federal agents have arrested a woman believed to be the "Plain Jane Bandit," wanted for eight bank robberies in California, officials said.

Garcia's alleged bank robbing spree started July 12 at a U.S. Bank branch in Santa Fe Springs. After that, she subsequently robbed seven more banks in Moreno Valley, Wildomar and the Los Angeles-area, officials said.

She was dubbed the "Plain Jane Bandit" after witnesses described her as wearing casual attire and of average looks.

The suspect in all of the robberies appeared to be unarmed and passed notes to the tellers demanding money.

Garcia was booked into a Los Angeles County jail, where she is awaiting formal charges.
