MERRITT ISLAND, Fla., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A former Florida high school teacher has been arrested and charged for an alleged three-year sexual relationship with a teenage girl, officials said.

Dennis Turner, 56, has been charged with 126 counts of sexual battery for the alleged relationship, which officials say started on school property at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School when the girl was 15, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Brevard County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tod Goodyear said Turner resigned from his position as a drama teacher at the end of the school year after parents alerted authorities to some inappropriate activity.

Sheriff's detectives then found the victim, who told them the incidents with Turner happened on school property and during school hours. It ended when she graduated from the school.

Turner is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on $4.4 million bond.
