Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Gary Schultz, former Penn State administrator charged with failure to report child abuse, is seeking access to source material of the report implicating him.
In a motion filed Tuesday in Dauphin County, Pa., Court, his lawyers asked to review 25 documents referred to in the report by former FBI director Louis Freeh, which offered a scathing review of the school's alleged attempts to cover up the actions of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday.
Sandusky was convicted on 45 counts of child sex abuse earlier this year.
Freeh's report, commissioned by Penn State trustees and submitted in July, implicated Shultz, suspended athletic director Tim Curley, former university president Graham Spanier and former football coach Joe Paterno in a conspiracy to downplay their knowledge of Sandusky's crimes.
Shultz' lawyers said Freeh's report contained "grievous and potentially inaccurate information related to Mr. Schultz."
Schultz and Curley are charged with perjury and failing to report child sex abuse, and each has entered a not-guilty plea, the newspaper said.
