Body likely missing FBI agent

BURBANK, Calif., July 31 (UPI) -- A body found in Burbank, Calif., is believed to be that of an FBI special agent missing for two months, authorities said Tuesday.

The body was discovered by hikers Monday night in a remote area not far from where Special Agent Stephen Ivens lived, the Los Angeles Times reported. Burbank police Sgt. Darin said Ivens' gun was found near the body.

"Every indication is that he's been there from the first day," Ryburn said.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the cause of death would be determined by the coroner's office.

She said it was "a sad day, not only for the Ivens family, but for law enforcement as well."

Dozens of FBI agents and members of other law enforcement agencies had combed the area looking for Ivens when he disappeared in May. Family members and authorities had at the time he suffered from depression.
