CLEVELAND, July 26 (UPI) -- Cleveland police said the tip regarding the whereabouts of the body of a teenager missing since 2003 was a lie.

Investigators said the tipster, imprisoned murderer Robert Wolford, lied to police when he said he killed Amanda Berry and could show police where he buried her body, WOIO-TV, Cleveland, reported.

Police conducted a massive search across the west side of Cleveland last week but found nothing an Wolford later admitted he made up the story.

Wolford is serving a 26-year prison sentence for killing a homeless man in a 2007 drug deal.
