LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 22 (UPI) -- A Kentucky teenager said she was prepared to go to jail after tweeting the names of two juveniles she said sexually assaulted her.
Savannah Dietrich, 17, Louisville told a newspaper she was angered at what she saw as a lenient plea bargain being offered the two assailants and wanted the public to know who was responsible.
The tweet revealing the names was in violation of court rules governing the disclosure of the names of juvenile suspects. The Louisville Courier-Journal said Sunday the boys' attorneys have asked that she be jailed for contempt of court.
"There you go, lock me up," Savannah Dietrich tweeted. "I'm not protecting anyone that made my life a living hell."
Dietrich told the newspaper she was aware she could wind up in jail. "I'm at the point, that if I have to go to jail for my rights, I will do it," she said. "If they really feel it's necessary to throw me in jail for talking about what happened to me ... as opposed to throwing these boys in jail for what they did to me, then I don't understand justice."
The newspaper said Dietrich was assaulted last year after she passed out at a party. Photos of the incident wound up on the Internet.
The defendants pleaded guilty to felony sexual abuse and misdemeanor voyeurism charges and will be sentenced at a later date. Dietrich goes before a judge July 30.
