ASHLAND, Ohio, July 17 (UPI) -- A manhunt was under way Tuesday for an Ashland, Ohio, man suspected of killing his girlfriend during a North Carolina vacation, police said.

Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Nathan Summerfield after a body found on Saturday in Frisco, N.C., was identified Monday as Summerfield's girlfriend, Lynn Jackenheimer, the Ashland (Ohio) Times-Gazette reported.

Jackenheimer, 33, was last seen July 3 vacationing with Summerfield, 27, her 13-year-old daughter and their 3-year-old son about 25 miles north of where her body was found. Summerfield returned to Ashland July 8 without Jackenheimer and while dropping the kids off at his brother's house, he allegedly told his brother he had strangled Jackenheimer and hidden her body.
