Couple arraigned in framing of school aide

IRVINE, Calif., July 16 (UPI) -- A California couple who allegedly framed a school volunteer because they were dissatisfied with her treatment of their son did not enter a plea in court Monday.

Kent and Jill Easter of Irvine, both attorneys, are charged with conspiracy to procure the false arrest of Kelli Peters, an elementary school volunteer, by planting drugs in her car, as well as false imprisonment and conspiracy to falsely report a crime.

Beginning in February 2011, the Easters, angry with the supervision of their young son, then a first-grader, in school, conspired to place bags of Vicodin, Percocet and marijuana in Peters' car, the Orange County Prosecutor's Office said.

After clearing the woman of any wrongdoing, Irvine police investigated the possibility the drugs were planted, and traced a telephone call, tipping off police, to Kent Easter, The Orange County Register reported Monday.

The Easters appeared in court Monday, but did not enter a plea. Their arraignment was continued to Aug. 23, the Los Angeles Times reported.
