Dad who drowned sons gets death penalty

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 12 (UPI) -- A convicted felon was sentenced to 550 days in county jail for hiding a loaded gun underneath his infant son during a traffic stop in Redwood City, Calif.
Jameel Collins was sentenced to 550 days of jail time and three years of probation for a felony charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm and child endangerment for hiding a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver under his 10-month-old son's baby chair, the Palo Alto (Calif.) Daily News reported.
Collins pleaded no contest in May.
He was out on bail for a possession of narcotics for sale felony charge. Collins is eligible for transfer to a residential drug treatment program with credit for time served.
