RIVERSIDE, Calif., July 12 (UPI) -- A poll released Thursday indicates only 17 percent of California voters approve of the work of the U.S. Congress, blaming partisanship and gridlock.
The disapproval rate was 74 percent, with 9 percent offering no opinion, a Field Poll for the Riverside, Calif., Press-Enterprise, and other state media subscribers, said.
"There doesn't seem to be any agreement on the major issues of the day. It's kind of a do-nothing Congress, at least on major issues, and I think voters are a little tired of that," said Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo.
The survey of 997 registered California voters was taken between June 21 and July 2, and has a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
