Vigil for Mobile, Alabama shooting victim

MOBILE, Ala., July 11 (UPI) -- A woman who died in a drive-by shooting was honored by more than 100 people in a candlelight vigil in Mobile, Ala.'s Cathedral Square Park.

Wendy Fisher, a single mother of two, was killed Saturday after she crossed a street in front of her house to retrieve a pet dog and shouted at a passing motorist to slow down. Either the motorist or his passengers fired three shots at her, after which the vehicle sped away, the Mobile Press-Register reported Wednesday.

At the vigil Tuesday evening, Fisher's 16-year-old daughter Madelynn North, who witnessed her mother's shooting, read from a poem she wrote her for Mother's Day.
