Conservator named for missing millionaire Guma Aguiar

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 11 (UPI) -- A Florida judge has appointed a lawyer to guard the assets of Guma Aguiar, the tycoon who disappeared after heading out to sea in his fishing boat.

Probate Judge Mark Speiser named Thomas Panza, a South Florida lawyer, as conservator of Aguiar's assets that are not in trusts, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

Aguiar vanished June 19. His 31-foot boat was found on a Fort Lauderdale beach at 1 a.m. the next day.

The missing man's mother Ellen Aguiar and his wife Jamie have been disputing control of his assets. At Tuesday's hearing, Ellen Aguiar said her fiance, David Even, has been handling the affairs of Jerusalem Global Management, her son's Israeli company, which has assets ranging from an organic farm to a professional basketball team.

Speiser told Ellen Aguiar she and Even are no longer making the decisions.

"What you've been doing has been shifted over to Mr. Panza," Speiser said. "If he feels you still should be involved in some capacity, I have no problem with him doing that."
