FREMONT, Calif., July 10 (UPI) -- A 12-year-old California girl called police from her closet to alert them that a pair of burglars was ransacking her home.

Fremont police said the two suspects were gone by the time they arrived just minutes after the youngster phoned 911.

The thieves apparently never knew anyone was home as they ransacked the house Monday afternoon. It was not known what was taken in the break-in.

Bay Area News Group said the alleged burglars were described as a couple around 19 years old.
