AUGUSTA, Ga., July 2 (UPI) -- A 24-year-old Georgia student who lost her hands, left leg and right foot to a flesh-eating bacteria was released from the hospital Monday, officials said.

Aimee Copeland left Doctors Hospital in Augusta after spending two months there recovering, WXIA-TV, Atlanta, reported.

She was transported to an inpatient rehabilitation center where she will spend the next six to eight weeks learning how to get from her bed to a wheelchair, and how to dress and how feed herself.

"Aimee is very anxious to begin rehabilitation and learn to function more independently," her father, Andy Copeland, said Monday. "We do not want to be the ones to put limitations on her. We want her to discover what she can and can't do. I am sure she will surpass all of our expectations."
