JetBlue pilot arraigned

LUBBOCK, Texas, June 28 (UPI) -- A federal judge in Texas Thursday ordered a trial for a veteran JetBlue pilot accused of disrupting a flight with a rant about terrorism.

Capt. Clayton Osbon, 49, was arraigned before U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson. No trial date was set, the Amarillo Globe News reported.

Osbon was found competent to stand trial earlier this month on charges stemming from a March 27 incident during which he allegedly became incoherent, yelling about the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and pounding on the cockpit door during a flight from Las Vegas to New York.

Co-pilot Jason Dowd diverted the plane to Amarillo, where Osbon was arrested by federal authorities. None of the 141 passengers or crew members was injured, the newspaper said.

Osbon faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years if convicted.
