MT. PLEASANT, Utah, June 27 (UPI) -- Authorities in Sanpete County, Utah, are trying to identify human remains found after the massive Wood Hollow wildfire burned 14 homes.

The blaze, the largest of the brushfires raging in Utah, has consumed more than 46,190 acres of high desert brush, sage and juniper east of Fairview. At least 50 structures in the Oaker Hills area have been destroyed in addition to 14 residences and 1,100 people have been evacuated, The Salt Lake City Tribune reported Wednesday.

A search-and-rescue team came across the unidentified remains in a remote area Tuesday afternoon and turned them over to the State Medical Examiner's Office.

The Wood Hollow Fire was 15 percent contained Wednesday, a Bureau of Land Management official said, after cooler weather and calmer winds kept the flames from spreading rapidly overnight.

On the other side the mountain from Fairview, the lightning-caused Seeley Fire, which began Tuesday, has charred more than 8,000 acres of the Manti-La Sal National Forest, the newspaper said. More than 100 Girl Scouts on a camping trip were safely evacuated to town.
