Ron Paul wants to meet with GOP leaders

WASHINGTON, June 21 (UPI) -- Former presidential hopeful Ron Paul has expressed a wish to speak at the Republican National Convention to share his libertarian ideas.

The Texas representative lamented, "unfortunately, we don't have quite enough [delegates] to take over the convention." However, Paul would appreciate the chance to speak to the convention in Tampa. Fla., in August, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

"I have not asked specifically, and he hasn't invited me to," Paul said of presumptive GOP candidate Mitt Romney.

"If I'm not going to be the nominee, the goal is to show there's a political benefit toward accepting some of the views that we have," Paul said Wednesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"All I want to do, if I don't get a speech on the floor in the convention, all I want to do is have a meeting and say 'Look, we have numbers, we have people, we have enthusiasm, we believe in something. Why don't you pay a little attention?'"
