CHICAGO, June 17 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force said it intercepted two private planes that strayed into restricted air space over Chicago during President Obama's visit this weekend.
An F-15 fighter jet shooed both planes out of the area without incident Saturday while the first family was in town to attend a wedding in their old neighborhood.
The civilian aircraft were first picked up on radar by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, the joint U.S.-Canadian unit that monitors air traffic over the continent. One was detected at 10:45 a.m. CDT and the other late in the afternoon.
WMAQ-TV in Chicago said the temporary flight restrictions were put into effect when the Obama's arrived in town Friday.
