W.Va. man wounds woman, kills self

CHARLESTON, W.Va., June 16 (UPI) -- A West Virginia man just released from a psychiatric hospital shot and wounded an ex-lover Saturday and then apparently killed himself, police said.

Charleston police said Joyce Good, 41, of South Charleston was shot shortly after 4 a.m. at a 7-Eleven convenience store and Larry Boner, 45, of St. Albans was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a nearby alley, The Charleston Gazette reported.

Good was hospitalized in stable condition with a gunshot wound to her arm, Criminal Investigation Division Sgt. Bobby Eggleton said.

Police said Good and Boner had previously lived together. She had filed a domestic violence petition against Boner June 8, but it had not yet been served because he was in the hospital.

Eggleton told the newspaper Boner had been told to stay away from Good when he was released from a state psychiatric hospital in Huntington. It wasn't clear when Boner was released.

Good told police Boner showed up at her house and "forced her to take a ride with him." She said when he told her they were going to Elkview she convinced him to stop at the 7-Eleven.

"She went inside the 7-Eleven and told the clerk to call the 911," Eggleton said.

She left the store and Boner fired three shots at her, hitting her once in the arm, Eggleton said.
