ATLANTA, June 16 (UPI) -- A young father in Georgia has been charged with felony murder for allegedly putting vodka in his 4-month-old daughter's bottle.

Keith Antonine Furlow, 20, of Stone Mountain was also charged with second-degree child cruelty in an indictment handed up by a DeKalb County grand jury, CNN reported Friday.

Furlow's daughter died June 8, 2011.

Prosecutors say her father deliberately gave her the vodka.

"Obviously, at that age, a child isn't old enough to get up and go pick up a bottle herself. Children at four months old are fed whatever it is they consume," DeKalb District Attorney Robert James told CNN.

Corinne Mull, Furlow's court-appointed lawyer, said the baby was a victim of a tragic accident.

"Everything isn't always as it seems," she said. "Accidents happen."
