NUTLEY, N.J., June 12 (UPI) -- Health officials imposed a $5,200 fine on the Nutley, N.J., tanning salon frequented by a mother who allegedly let her young daughter burn in a tanning booth.

City Tropics Tanning was fined for consumer overexposure and other safety violations.

Owner Anthony Ruccatano told The (Newark) Star-Ledger health inspectors claimed customers were tanning more than once a week after achieving a base tan in violation of health department regulations. Ruccatano said if such a rule were regularly enforced, "we would all be out of business."

Patricia Krentcil, known as the "tanning mom," pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges in May. Ruccatano said she has not been at his tanning salon since April 22.
